Overall, I would give the remote play feature a 3 out of 5 stars, docking one star for the lower-than-desired 720p resolution that the feature maxes out at. The setup is very easy and everything just worked well, which is surprising whenever you have to stream something across a network.
I streamed a movie from my Synology NAS to my HDTV downstairs without any issues.
To setup remote play on a Windows PC, you first need to create an account on the Windows 10 or 8.1 computer and then install the Windows 10 Remote Play app. Once you have installed the app, open it and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the screen. This will take you to a page that looks like this: Once you have clicked on this page, you will be taken to a page that looks like this: You will now see a list of devices that are connected to your computer. To do this, open up System Preferences and click on the Devices tab. You will now see a list of devices that are connected to your computer: Now let’s look at which device is connected to your Xbox One. To do this, open up Settings and click on the Xbox One icon in the top left corner of the screen. You will now see a list of options that are available for your Xbox One: Now let’s look at which device is connected to your Playstation 4. Install PS4 Remote Play
To update your PS4 system software, press up on the D-Pad and then over to the right until Settings is highlighted. From there, select System Software Update. If you are not prompted to update your system software, then it is likely that you have not installed the latest system software yet. To install the latest system software, go to store.playstation.com and search for “PS4 System Software Update.” Once you have downloaded and installed the update, restart your PS4. ..
Scroll down until you see System Software Update and press the X button on your controller to access it.
Windows: If you’re using Windows, you can now install the Remote Play software on your machine by going to the “My Computer” menu and clicking on “Remote Play.” Mac: If you’re using Mac, you can now install the Remote Play software by going to the “Applications” folder and clicking on “Remote Play.”
The PS4 Remote Play feature is a straight-forward way to play games on your PS4 without having to set up any settings. Once completed, you can run the PS4 Remote Play program from your desktop.
To start the game, you will need to click on the Play button on the main screen. If you are playing online, you will need to connect to a server first. Once you have connected to a server and are in game, you can choose to play as either a male or female character. ..
If you’re streaming PS4 games over your home network and everything is gigabit, then you should be fine changing the resolution to 720p and the frame rate to High. Obviously, if you run into sound issues or choppy graphics, you can change these setting each time you run remote play.
Currently, PS4 remote play does not support 1080p or higher resolutions. If the PS4 doesn’t have the hardware to handle 1080p, then we may be stuck with 720p until the PS4.5 comes out. ..
Playing games on the go has never been easier with the release of the new Nintendo Switch. Not only can you play your favorite games in handheld mode, but you can also take them with you and play them on your big screen TV. The new Nintendo Switch allows for remote play between devices, meaning that you can play your games on the go and still have access to them on your big screen TV. This is great for people who want to be able to take their game with them wherever they go. However, this feature will depend heavily on the internet connection speeds at both locations. ..
Once you sign in, you’ll be taken to the main screen where you can see your current game list and the options to add new games or update your existing ones. From here, just select the games that you want to download and start the download process. ..
Once you have signed in to your PlayStation 4, it will start searching for the console automatically. It might take a minute or two while it searches for the console. If it doesn’t find your PS4, you can also click on the Register Manually button and try that method.
If all goes well, you should be able to steam your PlayStation 4 through your Windows or Mac machine!
The game streaming was great on our local network. However, if you’re using a 1080p display, you won’t be as disappointed as I was with the 720p resolution. I have a 2560x1440 monitor and so the window is fairly small on the screen. If you have a 4K monitor, it’ll be really small unless you have everything scaled up.
Troubleshooting Tips
If you are having issues with your PlayStation 4, it may be because there are some settings that you need to change in order to get it working properly. One of the most important settings on a PlayStation 4 is the " Playstation Network/Account Management" setting. This setting allows you to activate your PlayStation 4 as your primary PS4. If you are not able to activate your PlayStation 4 as your primary PS4, then you may need to do some troubleshooting in order to fix the issue.
If you have multiple PS4 setups under the same account, you can only stream games over remote play from the primary PS4. To make this work, go to Settings and then Remote Play Connection Settings.
Make sure that Enable Remote Play is checked on your PS4. Finally, so that you don’t have to keep going to your PS4 and manually turning it on before playing remotely, go to Settings, then Power Save Settings and select Set Features Available in Rest Mode.
Make sure that you are connected to the internet and that you have turned on PS4 from network mode. Even if your PS4 is off or in rest mode, it will turn on when you start a remote play session. ..
That’s all there is to it! Overall, the feature works well and is a nice addition if you own a PlayStation 4 system. Unlike the Xbox One, PS4 supports streaming to Macs and over the Internet, which are two excellent features. If you have any questions, feel free to comment. Enjoy!
